Faith connects us with each other and with the spirit(s) of the universe. It is in fostering these ties that can help us in our communities, large and small, local and internationally. Something perhaps to pray on…

The People's Alterpiece, 40x60

The People’s Altarpiece, 40 x 60. A years work of research and months of work on the canvas. It is my belief that most likely Adam and Eve were dark toned, in God’s image means in God’s perfection. The manger for the young couple of Mary and Joseph was more likely with no wood, all stone, which is more the case in Bethlehem. The place where our savior laid his head was more likely blankets on stone, the feeding place of livestock. The altarpiece shows the holy trinity, the fore coming of our savior is seen in the piece. The baptismal urn the fish, the lilies representing his life. Adam stands with the rock and sling of David and the crook of the good shepherd. Mary looks up to the heaven and has a spiritual connection to her Lord while having the foreshadowing of births to come. The Hebrew titles of them both are seen painted into wood, forever to be there but also capable of fading away.

Cain and Abel, 40x60

“Cain and Abel”, 40×60. Based on research from the Old Testament, Dead Sea Scrolls, Hebrew writings and the Quran. The day Cain, some believe to have been the son of Eve and Satan, clubbed to death Abel, the son of Eve and Adam who God favored, murder was let loose into the world. An awful day that would be and is to this day, repeated again and again. Abel represents not only the first offspring to die a violent, horrific death; he also comes to represent the lamb, the good shepherd who will be killed by man, dying on a cross. Taken further here he represents the battered domestic violence women and LGBTQ who die at the hands of Cains in their lives. The blood of Abel soaks into the ground, forever staining our earth, just as much as every death from violence does still today. The sun that day screams of violence for an event that is about to change the world forever, letting loose the primal satanic desire to take the life of another, which no one person by Our Great Creator intends for us, any of us, to do.
